Mount Marino (Merino)

Mount Merino has an elevation of 540 feet. Arthur Adams in his Hudson River Guidebook tells us that the mountain was one of the first places they brought Merino sheep inthis country; hence the name. Merino sheep are bred for their fine wool. The breed originated in the Mediterranean, most notably in Spain. A farm specializing in Merino wool   Morehouse Farm is located in Milan, New York not too far south of Mount Merino
